History of the bar page:

Lloyds No. 1 Bar - The Hedley Verity is located in the centre of Leeds on Woodhouse Lane, it is located opposite Morrisons in Merrion Centre and it is situated next to Yates Bar on Woodhouse Lane. The bar was named after a Leeds-born spinner Hedley Verity.

He was a cricketer who took 10 wickets for 10 runs – still the best bowling analysis in first-class cricket. Verity played in 40 test matches, taking 100 wickets in a shorter time than any other English bowler. He died in 1943 from his wounds, in a prisoner of war camp in Italy.

Inside of the bar there are various images leading up to the history of Hedley's career and recognisable locations and people in Leeds. For example Barbara Hepworth who studied at Leeds College of Art. The bar gives a lot of atmosphere for historic Leeds, yet it is known as one of the busiest bars in Leeds. The bar has 2 floors and operates a bar on each floor. A dance floor, comfortable seating area and additional seating for daytime hours. Friday and Saturday Night

From 8pm this is when the evening typically starts. Their atmosphere begins to get busy after 10pm and then it tends to die down after 1am. However the atmosphere can sometimes differentiate on Fridays and Saturday. At Lloyds Bar, Friday and Saturdays are the busiest days during the week. From 9pm it starts to get busier as this is when people start to come out when they are drinking and socialising. From 10pm onwards it begins to pick up gradually or it can pick up significantly when the bar will need to let a certain amount of people in at each time to prevent overcrowding, which can be a common issue at times in bars.
